As fellow Americans, we recognized the challenges with accessing relevant information and data necessary to understand and evaluate today’s pressing issues, many of which are shaped by policy. This trend has left many of us silent and unengaged.

Ashley Martin
Director of Development
Ashley’s educational background includes a Bachelors of Arts degree in English from Georgia Southern University and a Master of Arts from American Military University. She also holds an American Bar Association Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Gainesville State College, along with eight years of honorable service to the U.S. Navy. With 20 years of fundraising experience, she’s secured more than $60 million across various sectors, and firmly believes that the human experience depends on interconnectedness as life requires citizens to become more informed, more efficient, and united for an enhanced quality of life in our communities.
Stephen Mistovich
Social Media & Community Manager
Stephen Mistovich is a marketing professional with over five years of experience in social media management, content creation, and influencer marketing. Based in Youngstown, Ohio, Stephen is passionate about helping others advance their skills and knowledge. When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and exploring his love for pasta. Stephen brings creativity, strategic insight, and a deep understanding of digital marketing to his work.
Lee Carpenter
Grant Writing
Since 1980 Lee Carpenter has been working with faculty and interdisciplinary faculty teams on funding searches and approaches to funders, proposal development, and proposal submission. She has both participated in and coordinated the development of large-scale research proposals for NSF and NIH centers and training programs, including identifying potential partners and related resources that would strengthen a proposal's funding potential. She has worked on successful proposals to the Pew Charitable Trusts, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and W. T. Grant Foundation, among others.
Debbie McManus
Director of Operations
As the Director of Operations at Everything Policy, Debbie oversees the nonprofit's initiatives to research and publish nonpartisan policy content that educates and engages the public. With experience in nonprofit management and community affairs, she is dedicated to making policy issues accessible and understandable for all audiences. Her previous roles have included community outreach and support in educational settings, reinforcing her commitment to impactful public service.
Kim Owens
Policy Education Program
Kim Owens has been teaching AP United States Government and Politics at Shaker Heights High School since 2002. She has been involved with the AP Reading since 2003 and for the last eight years has served as the Assistant to the Chief Reader. She is a former member of the Curriculum Design and Assessment Committee, as well as a former member of the Test Development Committee for both the legacy and resigned AP Exams. Currently she provides support to AP teachers as the moderator of the online AP U.S. Government and Politics Teacher Community and as an endorsed consultant for the College Board. She is a contributing author for the first AP edition of American Politics and Government Today published by Norton. She has a degree in economics, with a minor in political science, from the University of Michigan and received her Master in Curriculum and Instruction from Cleveland State University.

Robert Holahan
Research Content Lead
Robert Holahan is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Binghamton University (SUNY), where his teaching and research focuses on environmental policy and economics. He earned his PhD in Political Science at Indiana University, working with Nobel Laureate Elinor Ostrom, and his MA and BA in Economics at Washington University in St. Louis. He enjoys camping in the Adirondacks with his dog and wife, and is a big fan of the Minnesota Twins.
Dr. William Bianco
Research Director
Dr. William Bianco received his PhD in Political Science from the University of Rochester. He is Professor of Political Science and Director of the Indiana Political Analytics Workshop at Indiana University. His current research is on representation, political identities, and the politics of scientific research.

As a board member of Everything Policy, Jon brings extensive experience in public service, having served as Deputy County Executive for Suffolk County and Special Advisor to Governor Cuomo during the Superstorm Sandy recovery effort. With a background in local government and law, he is dedicated to promoting accessible policy education and fostering informed civic engagement. His commitment to community development is rooted in his years of leadership in various governmental roles, including Town Supervisor of North Hempstead. Jon earned his Juris Doctorate from Hofstra Law School and a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard.

With over 20 years of experience across diverse industries including SaaS, machine learning, medical devices, and logistics, he leverages his extensive background in leadership and strategic development to promote understanding of crucial policy issues. His mission is to foster sound decision-making that improves the quality of life in America, ensuring that everyone has access to unbiased information on important topics.

Abortions: When, How Many, and Method
The debate over the legality and morality of abortion has been further shaped by the Supreme Court’s June 24th, 2022, Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision overturning Roe v. Wade. States now set their own policies protecting, limiting, or outright banning abortion access without any federal standard for access to abortion. This policy change has created a new focus on medication abortion. In many cases, the current debate does not consider real-world facts about the number, method, and timing of abortions in contemporary America. This brief addresses the following questions: First, how many abortions take place? Is abortion becoming more or less common? Second, at what point in pregnancies are abortions occurring? Third, how are new methods changing the way abortions are performed?

EV Infrastructure: How Many Charging Stations Are Needed To Satisfy Government Requirements?
One of the major impediments to getting more electric vehicles (EVs) on the road is the need for wide-scale charging infrastructure. Charging stations are needed so that people can use EVs for longer periods of driving and to allow urban residents (who may lack garages and parking spaces where they can install a charging port) to charge their EVs for everyday use. While the number of charging stations is steadily increasing, it lags far behind the number required to support widespread EV adoption and government mandates. In this brief, our analysts calculate the number of charging stations needed and where they must be located.
